Treasa Nealon is a playwright and theatre-maker based in Leitrim, Ireland.
She is an alumni of The Irish Theatre Institutes Virtual Six in the Attic programme. She co-founded The Rabbit’s Riot Theatre Company in 2016, where they have produced over 60 different productions and projects, including community public art installations and the North-West of Ireland’s first LGBT+ Theatre Festival.
Playwriting
Her most recent playwriting work includes ‘The World is Falling in Around Us’ performed at Union Theatre, London (May 2026), a rehearsed reading of ‘Boom Boom Bang’ as part of the Druid Debuts (December 2025) and ‘Homesick’ at the Dublin Fringe Festival (September 2025).
Her short play ‘Back of the Bus’ was selected as part of Fishamble’s The Navigator Project and published with Bloomsbury (June 2026).
Her short play ‘Runaway Dress’ was performed as part of the Big Size Breakfast in the Pleasance Courtyard for the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Some of her other plays include ‘Effigy’ (Hawks Well Theatre, 2026) short play ‘Maybe Baby’ (Cork Arts Theatre, 2016 and Irish Cultural Centre, 2023) and ‘One of the Lads’ (Galway Theatre Festival, 2018).
Other Writing
Treasa has written short films, poetry, prose and short stories.
SHE- See Her Elected commissioned Treasa to write a short film ‘The Lampost’ (2021) as part of one of their campaigns. They commissioned her in 2025 to write an untitled piece that has been read at several events and will be read at the upcoming launch of the National Women’s Council All Ireland Women’s Forum.
Her work has been published online and in print including chewin’ the fat magazine, Saving Daylight Magazine, Free the Verse and Thimble Literary Magazine.
Facilitating
Treasa is currently co-director of the Senior and Junior Manorhamilton Youth Theatre in The Glens Arts Centre. She has created several original pieces of theatre with the young people.
She has facilitated several different creative workshops with community groups included DVAS, North Leitrim Women’s Centre and the National Learning Network.
